The final day of my Sweden Tour 2007 began with another Eastern Division 1 Women match, in which AIK Solna faced the Järfälla team. In the Rastaparkhallen 70 spectators, half of them cheering for the guest team,
saw an entertaining Sunday noon match.
From the very beginning, Järfälla took control of the match and were awarded by the first goal of the match by Elisabeth Qvafort in the third minute. AIK was not able to launch effective attacks in the very beginning, so that their first
scoring opportunity was in the eighth minute after a beautiful throw-out by their goalie Madeleine Pohl. On the other side of the rink, Moa Tschöp completed a Qvarfort cross-pass beautifully by hammering the ball directly in the long angle of the goal.
AIK became slightly better now, acting better in both, offense and defense and increased their fighting spirit as well. Two minutes before the end of first period,
Linnea Svelander from Järfälla and Camilla Catharina Ahlin showed to much fighting spirit and got envolved in a small scuffle. The hotspured players were very lucky that the
referees Jennie Fahlberg and Caroline Gestrup, who showed a superb match, just sent them off for two minutes each.
AIK became better in second period, but still acted too clumsy in some big moments. For example, Lena Karlsson was sent to the bin for two after she held her
opponent far off the goal. Nevertheless, there was no goal in second period, especially because both power play formations did not act handily enough to take advantage of one of an overall of five power play situations.
While meanwhile, the second period was sometimes slightly boring, there were a series of chances and goals during the final twenty mins starting with a beautiful Järfälla's Stephanie Löfgren right wing attack, which was completed
by Sara Larsson in the 42nd minute. When Qvafort managed to score in the 48th and 49th minute by a fast break and a lift-shot over Pohl, who reacted too early, the match was decided. Rebecca Gransted even managed to score the 6:0 lead in the 53rd minute by a short-distance
shot. While since then, AIK acted too weak to have a chance in that game, they at least had the star player of the final six minutes: Linda Larsson scored thrice in that time starting with a
fast break goal in the 55th minute and secondly completeling a wonderful pass by Susanna Hjalmar, who won a duel at the rink behind Maria Peters' goal. With twelve seconds left on the clock, Järfälla playing in man advantage
needed to stop a fast break by stepping in the goalkeeper's area. Larsson confidently converted the penalty shot. Löfgren, who had meanwhile scored the seventh goal for the guest team,
prevented Larsson to score a straight hattrick.
